Barrier-separated mandatory bike lane seen from overhead. Note very short merging distance for motorists to merge right or bicyclists to merge left after last parking spot (top of picture). Bicyclists and turning motorists are concealed form each other by parked vehicles. The barrier bikeways apparently contemplate only pedestrian-style left turns. The design leads to the same types of conflict which led to high car-bike crash rates in Berlin, as shown in the Berlin study over a decade before Paris constructed these lanes. Also note pedestrian walking in the bike lane.
