Here's another right-turn area approaching Chrystie Street. A car is turning right from the left side of the bikeway, as is usual. However, pedestrians waiting to cross Grand Street are standing in the bikeway, so the driver has no other option. The short stretch of bike lane (striped on its left side) just before the crosswalk specifically encourages motorists to keep left, despite the merge area in the foreground.

Ciccarelli: The peds may be standing in the bikeway because the red shack (newsstand?) blocks their sight lines from the corner.
