(Video, 1.1 MB. To view, click on "run" button underneath.) A bike ride through the tunnel north to south in 2007 following reconstruction. The sharp curve still exists at the near end of the tunnel, but a sweeping curve with much better sight lines now exists at the far end. Note how I move closer to the centerline and slow down as I approach the tunnel, in order to have more time to look inside before I enter. Also note new, brighter lighting inside the tunnel (maybe too bright at night -- people could lose their dark adaptation). The rest of the Rail Trail is unlighted, except at some intersections.
