Bridge pathway
A very elaborate and expensive structure has been built to lead bicyclists to the east end of the Steel Bridge. Bicyclists must turn sharply left to go down a ramp, while pedestrians may use a stairway. The top of the stairway is near the right side of the picture. There are no warning signs, markings and there is no chicane leading to the stairway. A confused bicyclist could easily turn right instead of left and be in for a big surprise. A bicyclist if very confused or if brakes fail also go over the railing. It is of a height generally considered adequate for a bicycle facility, but unlike on most such facilities, it is placed directly across the path of approaching bicyclists. Scroll right as needed to see the rest of the panoramic image.
