Cyclist died here

Here at the bottom of a long downhill at the intersection of Interstate and Greeley, cyclist Brett Jarolimek, riding at the right side of the roadway as directed by the bike lane, collided with a city garbage truck. The truck began a right turn from the left of the bike lane and Jarolimek went under its wheels. I understand that Portland had intended to install a "bike box" at this intersection, so that bicyclist would not only overtake motorists on the right but also swerve across from right to left in front of them. Instead, following the fatal crash, Portland blocked off the right turn. The barrier has more recently been made permanent.
