Bus bay and bike lane

Another of Toole's examples -- the bus bay is after the intersection so the crosswalk is behind the bus, where pedestrians are visible to approaching bicyclists and motorists. Bicyclists are expected to pass to the left of the bus, in contrast to the European approach of placing bicyclists in the bus loading zone (see example from Montréal) an approach which was shown in a recent Copenhagen study to have 17 times the crash rate of having bicyclists pass to the left of the buses.
