Extreme decay

Here, the two-way sidepath has merged with the shoulder, so bicyclists riding toward the camera in the photo are being instructed to ride unlawfully opposite the direction of traffic on the roadway. The path here is in a state of extreme decay. When I took these photos in 1999, the pending construction of a nearby bicycle/pedestrian overpass and other improvements made repair of this path uneconomical.
