Width on south Brookline arterials? Yes, there's plenty. The question is, how is it to be used? I contend that the proposed reallocation of width in most parts of the proposal is not reasonable, and better allocations would be much preferable .

Expense? The figure given assumes a large Federal and state subsidy. Given current tight budgets, and that many aspects of the plan do not conform to Federal or state design standards, that subsidy is questionable. Alternatives are conceivable which would meet the standards and would not be nearly as expensive.
